New Delhi: Fed up of reaching school late everyday due to lack of connectivity between his school and home, an 11-year-old boy from Unnao near Kanpur took a major decision in anticipation of ending his long drawn problem.

Without discussing his plan to anybody, 11-year-old Nayan Singh, student of a Class VII student at Chandrashekhar Azad Intermediate College, wrote a letter to PM Modi last September seeking redressal for the problem faced by him and 200 other students, who have to take a two kilometre long circuitous route to reach school as there is no crossing at the railway tracks between his village and school.

However, as Nayan and his comrades continued to take the long route to school and continued to be punished for reaching school late, one fine day, there was a letter, putting an end to his secret.

A letter received by his family from the divisional engineer, Northern Railways mentioned that Nayan’s letter has been sent to the PM and there was a technical problem which needs to be resolved to find solution for Nayan’s problem.

“Existing rules mandate that a railway crossing or overbridge cannot be constructed till the concerned state government puts in a request with the railways ministry,” the letter read.

However, given the direct intervention by the Prime Minister, Nayan and his friends may soon avoid getting late to school.
