Patna: Five teenagers including one son of a local Janata Dal-United leader shot dead the warden of a Juvenile Home and another inmate, before fleeing the facility at Purnea here. One of the five teenagers has a long criminal history and faces about a dozen charges against him.
The group was angered when the resident warden Bijendra Kumar found a cough syrup they used for intoxication and requested the juvenile justice board to move them to another shelter. The request of the warden was approved by the board on Wednesday. On hearing this, the five inmates shot their warden and another 17-year-old inmate suspecting that the latter was spying on them and informing the warden. They fled the scene soon after the incident.
The police are now investigating the case and are also trying to locate how the teenagers got access to a gun inside the juvenile home.
