Jammu: Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked, indiscriminate firing on Indian positions on the line of control (LoC) in Poonch district on Tuesday, September 6.

“Pakistani soldiers initiated indiscriminate firing at midnight on Indian Army posts along the LoC in Poonch district. Our troops have retaliated appropriately,” Defence spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta said in Jammu. Intermittent firing exchanges are still going on in the area, he added.

The ceasefire violation comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the G20 platform to launch a veiled attack on Pakistan, saying it is the only single nation in South Asia which is spreading agents of terror and, therefore, called on the international community to isolate and sanction those indulging in the same.

Pakistan had violated the ceasefire last month, a day ahead of Independence Day, to which the Indian responded heavily. Pakistani troops had resorted to unprovoked firing on Indian side along the Line of Control in Shahpu Kandi area of the border Poonch district.
