New Delhi: Former finance minister P Chidambaram was sent to the Tihar jail today. Before leaving for the jail, however, the Congress leader took a dig at the Central Government saying that he is only “worried about the economy”.
The former minister had referenced the country’s economic slowdown on Tuesday as well, when his custody with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was extended till September 5.
“You know what is 5 per cent? You remember 5 per cent,” he had asked a reporter, taking a clear dig at the government for the low GDP numbers.
Chidambaram was sent to the Tihar jail by Special judge Ajay Kumar, who declared that he will have to be in jail till September 19 in connection with the INX Media case. Coincidentally, this is the same jail where his son, Karti Chidambaram was sent earlier.
