Chennai: At least one passenger was killed and nine others were injured in two bomb blasts in two coaches of the Guwahati-Bangalore train, minutes after it entered the Chennai railway station here Thursday, an official said.

The official said the 22-year-old woman passenger, a resident of Andhra Pradesh, was killed, while nine others were injured, two of them grievously, in the Chennai Central Railway Station blast.
The blasts took place in two coaches – S4 and S5 – of the train at around 7.15 a.m., barely 10 minutes after it had arrived at the railway station, the official added.
The injured have been taken to a hospital.
Suspects Nabbed
A Sri Lankan national, believed to be an ISI agent, was arrested here on Tuesday for his suspected links with Indian terror modules.
Mohamed Zahir Hussain (37), suspected to be an accomplice of a Colombo-based ISI operative, is believed to have visited Tamil Nadu several times in the recent past and allegedly used a fake passport during one of his visits, police sources said.
Hussain’s arrest came just two days before the twin blasts at the Chennai central railway station here, in which at least one person has been killed.
While no link has been established between Hussain’s arrest and the blasts, sources said police are probing any suspected linkage.
Hussain was apprehended after a raid at an undisclosed location Tuesday following intelligence inputs.
Some counterfeit currency and incriminating documents were also seized from him.
He was produced before a magistrate late Tuesday night and remanded to judicial custody.
Hussain during interrogation revealed that he had visited Tamil Nadu several times in the recent past. He also reportedly claimed he was a textile merchant who visited India for “bonafide” purposes, police sources said.
However, his visits to certain locations and possession of “some communication gadgets and photographs” raised the suspicion of investigators. Officials are probing if he had surveyed vital installations and places of public congregation in Tamil Nadu with malafide intentions.
A case has been registered against Hussain under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and various sections of the IPC.
Moreover another suspect has also been nabbed by the police. As per the sources, Tamil Nadu police nabbed the suspect who was hiding inside the Guwahati express for almost two hours.
More details are awaited.
