Mumbai: The saffron coalition of the BJP and the Shiv Sena is all set to form the government in Maharashtra and now a lot of noise is being heard around making young Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
Posters showing the young Thackeray as the CM of Maharashtra have already been put up in his constituency Worli and it is now said that many leaders of the Sena and the elected MLAs from the party too have kept forth the very same demand.
If at all the demands are met, then Aaditya Thackeray, who is 29-years-old will become the youngest CM of the State, the title held by Sharad Pawar of the NCP, who became the CM of Maharashtra when he was 38-years-old.
Though several Sena leaders say that they want Aaditya to become the CM and that they are confident that their party president Udhav Thackeray (father of Aaditya) will negotiate this out with the BJP, they say that they will abide by whatever decision their Party President takes in this regard.
Aaditya emerged victorious from Worli Assembly constituency after defeating NCP candidate Suresh Mane by a margin of over 70,000 votes.
Amid demands from Shiv Sena to make Aaditya the next CM, BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis, who currently occupies the post and is also said to continue in the position, had reportedly said that he will be happy to offer Aaditya the post of deputy CM.
BJP-Shiv Sena alliance won an absolute majority in the Maharashtra assembly polls with the former emerging as the single largest party in the state with 105 seats. Shiv Sena, on the other hand, bagged 56 seats in the elections.
