Kannur: National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested two women in Kannur on Tuesday August 17 on suspicion of supporting ISIS’s activities and disseminating its message on social media. The two accused are identified as Shifa Harris and Misha Siddique.
According to the sources, the two were members of a group that ran ISIS propaganda channels on Telegram, Hoop, and Instagram. Harris and Siddique are suspected of being active in the online promotion of the terror group’s activities in order to radicalise people and recruit new members.
Shifa Harris and Misha Siddique were arrested at their home by the investigating team from New Delhi.
The arrests come months after the NIA arrested one of their partners, Musad Anwar, in Kannur in March 2021, and a complaint was filed against seven known and unknown people.
Rehman, a member of the same group, was arrested on August 4 in Mangaluru. The NIA team arrived at the house of the two women and arrested them based on the information provided by Rehman during his interrogation.
