Godhra: Police in Godhra, Gujarat’s Panchmahal district, have initiated legal proceedings against a schoolteacher and two others over suspicions of facilitating cheating during the NEET-UG competitive exam.

Allegedly, they offered to solve exam papers for six candidates in exchange for ₹10 lakh each. The scheme was discovered at a Godhra school designated for the NEET-UG exam after authorities received a tip-off.

The accused include Tushar Bhatt, a physics teacher who served as the deputy superintendent during the exam, along with Parsuram Roy and Arif Vora. During investigations, police found ₹7 lakh in cash in Bhatt’s car, which Vora had allegedly paid as an advance to secure assistance for a candidate.

According to reports, the accused instructed candidates to leave unanswered questions blank, with the intention to fill them later with correct answers after collecting the papers. The district education officer’s complaint led to the FIR, detailing Bhatt’s role as a teacher at Jay Jalaram School and his appointment as the deputy center superintendent for NEET in the city.

Authorities confiscated Bhatt’s mobile phone, which contained a list of candidates and their details, allegedly sent by co-accused Roy. Bhatt confessed to being promised ₹10 lakh per candidate for solving their papers. One candidate had already paid ₹7 lakh as an advance, which was seized. The FIR charges the accused with criminal breach of trust, cheating, and criminal conspiracy.

Investigations are ongoing. NEET (UG) is a nationwide entrance exam for undergraduate medical, dental, and AYUSH courses in both public and private institutions.
