New Delhi: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has irked the Muslim community by refusing to chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, stating that the constitution does not make it mandatory for him to chant the slogan.

Evidently, Mohommed Imam, a prominent Muslim community leader from Meerut held a protest march at Baccha Park in Meerut on Friday to register his opposition to the attitude manifested by Owaisi.

The protest did not just end there. Imam and his supporters also wrote the slogan ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ in blood on a map of India to express their love for the motherland.

The Imam’s blood drawn using a syringe was used as ink to write the slogan on three maps of India.

Imam said that saying ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ is the right and responsibility of an Indian.

“Where does Islam stop people from expressing love for their motherland, or shouting slogans in praise of motherland,” he questioned and added that Owaisi’s remark was anti-national and not acceptable.
