Srinagar: If you think the onion prices are leaving you teary eyed then be prepared for more tears. Citing the steady rise in the domestic prices in the face of massive demand from India, Pakistan has stopped sending onions into JnK through the twin cross-LoC bartering points in Poonch and Uri.

According to reports, the traders have been informed by the Pakistani side that due to steady rise in domestic prices in the face of massive demand from India, the other side can’t supply the product for some time.

He added that they had imported around 100 trucks in two days which must be around 1,000 tonnes.

Pakistani onion imports through LoC may not be a huge relief to the surging Indian demand, but it would have helped Kashmir manage its needs comparatively cheap.
