Mumbai: The prime ministerial candidate and current Gujarat CM Narendra Modis first official visit while campaigning for the 2014 elections was at the MMRDA grounds at Bandra-Kurla Complex on Sunday December 22.

Narendra Modi started his speech with a few lines in Marathi and then quickly switched to Hindi as he named the BJP campaign, Vote for India, He asked people to vote for the country’s betterment.
Modi said, “Mumbai is a second home for Gujaratis. The way Mumbai treats Gujarati (language), it appears as if Mumbai is the maika (Maiden house) for a Gujarati.”
However, he adopted a different tone when it came to the state. “Maharashtra is our big brother. When Gujarat got divided from Maharashtra, the biggest question was how we would develop Gujarat, as we had no water.”
Lashing out at the Congress, Modi blamed the party for the country’s downfall. He said, “During the freedom struggle, it was at August Kranti Maidan that the Quit India movement started, due to which the British had to leave India. The same Mumbai soil will have to raise the slogan Congress-free India. Congress is into vote-bank politics and hence, keeps on dividing the society.”
