Mumbai :The Governor of Maharashtra K. Sankaranarayanan on Saturday presented the ‘K.Veeramani Award for Social Justice’ to Maharashtra’s Minister for Public Works & Tourism Chhagan Bhujbal at a function in Mumbai.



The Award has been instituted by Periyar International, USA, an organisation set up by the followers of renowned social reformer from Tamil Nadu late Periyar E V Ramasamy. The award carries the name of Dr K Veeramani, the current President of the Dravidar Kazhagam- the organisation founded by Periyar. The award given to persons having made significant contribution to the cause of social justice, carries a purse of Rs.1 lakh and a citation. Shri Bhujbal donated the prize money to Periyar International.
Dr K. Veeramani, President of Dravidar Kazhagam, Dr S. Ilangovan, President of Periyar International, USA, Shri Samir Bhujbal, MP, Shri Pankaj Bhujbal, MLA, Dr. P. Anbalagan, were prominent among those present on the occasion.
