Lucknow: Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, accused under anti-terrorism acts, getting the ticket from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to contest from Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency against Congress candidate Digvijaya Singh, has drawn flak from the opposition party Congress and many other regional parties on her negative remarks on 26/11 terror attack martyr Hemant Karkare.

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Supremo Mayawati on Monday, April 22, strongly condemned the move of Election Commission of India (ECI) for not rejecting her nomination.

Earlier, Pragya Singh had said that she was proud to say that she was indeed involved in the demolition of the Babri Masjid at Ayodhya. As she stands firm on her statement, Mayawati had requested ECI to reject her nomination.

Taking to Twitter, Mayawati tweeted that the Malegaon blast accused claims herself to be fighting a ‘crusade’ and by this the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and BJP stand exposed.

She slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the tweet and said that it would be the downfall of democracy if the ECI did not act swiftly. She held PM Modi responsible for the situation.

However, it may be noted that the election officer of the district had issued a notice to Pragya Singh seeking explanation a day after her statements on Babri Masjid demolition.
