Mumbai: Sachin Tendulkar is likely to miss Mumbai Indians match against Rajasthan Royals on 24 May because of a wrist injury he picked up while batting against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 13 May, and it is unclear if he would be available for the final if Mumbai Indians qualify, according to a statement from the Mumbai Indians. The injury forced Tendulkar to retire hurt in that game.

Tendulkar missed the teams last match against Chennai Super Kings that they lost and while the normal recovery period for this kind of injury is three weeks, the team said is recovering is going well. “However, rehab results in the past nine days have shown reasonable improvements and we are hopeful to get him back in action as soon as possible,” the team said.
Mumbai Indians reloaded this season as they chase their first IPL title, bringing in Ricky Ponting as captain, John Wright as coach and Anil Kumble as mentor. Ponting was eventually dropped because of poor form but the team thrived under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, finishing the league stage in second place, behind Chennai Super Kings on net run-rate.
