Mangalorean Freida Pinto joins hands with Michelle Obama for Let Girls Learn

Mumbai: Actress Freida Pinto has joined hands with the First Lady of the US Michelle Obama for Let Girls Learn — a government initiative aimed at helping girls obtain quality education.
Freida, along with Michelle Obama, her daughters Sasha and Malia, their grandmother Marian Robinson – will travel to Liberia, Morocco and Spain at the end of June and early July as part of the Let Girls Learn initiative, read a statement issued on behalf of the “Slumdog Millionaire” actress.

The focus of the trip, which includes Monrovia, Marrakesh and Madrid, is for them to speak to young girls about the importance of education and staying in school.

Starting with Liberia, Freida and Michelle will take part in a discussion which will cover the educational barriers girls face in the country. President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf will meet them as well.

Next, in Morocco, Hollywood star Meryl Streep will be seen joining Michelle and Freida to discuss the challenges women in the African country deal with on a regular basis.

Indian Actress Freida Pinto, originally from Nirude, Mangaluru, rose to fame with Oscar-winner ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.
