New Delhi: Following a heated meeting with the Parliamentary Ethics Committee, Member of Parliament Mahua Moitra expressed her outrage, stating that the committee asked intrusive and inappropriate questions. The meeting was convened to address allegations made against Moitra, accusing her of receiving bribes from businessman Darshan Hiranandani to target the Adani Group, as claimed in a letter from BJP MP Nishikant Dubey to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

Moitra, visibly upset, revealed that the panel delved into her personal affairs, demanding details about her travel, meetings, and phone records. In response to these invasive inquiries, Moitra, along with Janata Dal (United) MP Giridhari Yadav and Congress MP Uttam Kumar Reddy, walked out of the meeting, protesting against the committee’s line of questioning. Yadav emphasized that the committee had overstepped boundaries by asking inappropriate personal questions, which led to their decision to leave.
Moitra had previously shared a letter, dated October 31, addressing the Ethics Committee’s summons, expressing her intent to challenge the allegations during her appearance on November 2. She criticized the committee’s decision to publicize her summons and asserted her determination to refute the accusations of cash-for-query against her.
