In a shocking turn of events, an 18-year-old girl and her boyfriend have been apprehended for the murder of her mother in Vadgaon Sheri, Pune. The chilling incident unfolded as the duo allegedly conspired to cover up an unauthorized cash withdrawal, leading to the tragic demise of the 45-year-old woman.

Details of the Incident

The suspects, identified as Yoshita and Yash Shitole, reportedly orchestrated the murder while the victim, Mangal Sanjay Gokhale, was asleep. Their motive stemmed from the need to conceal the unauthorized withdrawal, leading to a staged scene to mask the true cause of death as a fall in the bathroom.

Investigation Unveils Deception

Following the incident, the suspects rushed Gokhale to Sassoon General Hospital on April 1, claiming she had sustained a head injury from the purported fall. However, suspicions arose when the autopsy revealed the true cause of death, prompting a thorough investigation by authorities.

Senior Inspector Manisha Patil, leading the investigation at Chandannagar police station, revealed that the autopsy results contradicted the suspects’ account, raising red flags. Further scrutiny uncovered visits by Shitole to the victim’s residence and suspicious transactions totaling Rs 2 lakh from her account.

Unraveling the Scheme

Authorities pieced together the puzzle, discovering that Yoshita and Shitole had depleted the illicitly withdrawn funds and feared repercussions if discovered. In a desperate bid to silence their victim and cover their tracks, they executed a chilling plan.

“The pair silenced her with a scarf while she slept and then struck her with a hammer, attempting to stage the incident as an accidental fall,” explained Patil. Both suspects have been apprehended on charges of murder and tampering with evidence.

This harrowing incident serves as a grim reminder of the depths some may go to conceal their misdeeds, unraveling a tale of betrayal and deception that has shocked the community of Pune.
