In response to the hoarding collapse incident in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar district that resulted in the deaths of fourteen people, the civic body announced on Tuesday that over 1,500 illegal hoardings in Pune city have already been subject to action.
The commissioner of Pune Municipal Corporation, Rajendra Bhosale, reported that there were 1,564 unauthorized temporary hoardings and posters in the city.
“We have responded to them with action. He informed reporters, “We had also given the order to perform a structural examination of all legal hoardings in the city.
The commissioner stated that out of the 2,598 legal hoardings in PMC bounds, the audit of 2,300 had been completed, and none of them had been found to be structurally unsound.
Bhosale stated that no illegally constructed business hoardings were discovered.
He said that the civic council was also updating the policy standards on hoardings in crowded areas.
In the midst of rain and gusty winds on Monday evening, a massive hoarding toppled on a gas pump in the Ghatkopar neighborhood of Mumbai, killing at least fourteen people.
A similar terrible incident occurred in Pune in October 2018, when four people lost their lives after a hoarding on the railway station premises crashed on cars on the nearby road.
