Prime Minister Narendra Modi took aim at both NCP-SP chief Sharad Pawar and former Congress minister Sushil Kumar Shinde during his poll rally address. Criticizing Pawar over the challenges faced by sugarcane farmers, Modi also lambasted the Congress party for its failure to contest enough seats to form a government at the Centre.
Addressing a rally in Maharashtra, PM Modi highlighted the struggles of farmers during the tenure of a prominent Maharashtra leader who served as Union agriculture minister. He emphasized the need to hold leaders accountable for unfulfilled promises, particularly regarding water scarcity in drought-affected regions.
Sushil Kumar Shinde, a former minister and Congress leader, also came under scrutiny from PM Modi for failing to deliver on commitments made years ago. PM Modi urged voters to consider the track record of political leaders before casting their votes.
Pointing to the chronic water scarcity in regions like Vidarbha and Marathwada, PM Modi accused the Congress of perpetuating a situation where people are left longing for water. He highlighted the lack of progress in irrigation projects, particularly in Maharashtra, despite decades of Congress rule.
During a rally in Malshiras, PM Modi urged voters to refrain from supporting parties that lack the capacity to contest a sufficient number of seats for a majority in the Lok Sabha.
Earlier in the week, PM Modi had criticized Sharad Pawar, labeling him as a disruptive force in Maharashtra politics. He attributed the state’s political instability to Pawar’s ambitions, which, according to PM Modi, have hindered progress and governance.
