Mumbai: A 21-year-old YouTuber residing in Mumbai’s Bandra has filed a police complaint after an unidentified individual allegedly hacked into the CCTV camera installed in his bedroom and shared his nude videos on social media.
The unauthorized access to the CCTV cameras occurred on November 17, but the incident only came to light after the explicit content went viral on December 9. The Bandra police have registered a case under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology Act for defamation.
The YouTuber, in his complaint, mentioned that he had installed CCTV cameras inside his house for security purposes, and one such camera was placed in his bedroom.
On December 9, a friend alerted him to a viral video showing him changing clothes. When he investigated, he realized the footage was from the CCTV camera in his room. The explicit clip was subsequently shared across various social media platforms, garnering widespread attention.
The complainant informed the police that an unknown individual had illicitly accessed the CCTV camera footage and used it to defame him on social media platforms.
The investigating team is exploring all angles in the case, suspecting that someone known to the victim might be involved in the crime.
