Pune: In a significant operation, law enforcement in Pune apprehended a 32-year-old individual in possession of 2.38 kilograms of narcotics valued at more than ₹2 crore from the Pimpri Chinchwad area.
The individual arrested has been identified as Namami Shankar Zha, aged 32 and originating from Bihar.
An official reported, “Police, now under the jurisdiction of Pimpri-Chinchwad, acted swiftly, seizing 2.38 kilograms of MD drugs valued at ₹2,02,00,000 and apprehended the suspect from Pimple Nilakh in the Pune district on Friday.”
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shivaji Pawar stated, “The suspect’s arrest occurred after Assistant Police Inspector Narayan Patil from Sangvi Police Station observed suspicious behavior, noticing the individual carrying a white bag during routine night patrol.”
The DCP added that upon searching the suspect, authorities discovered 2.38 kilograms of MD drugs worth approximately ₹2.20 crore, along with a mobile phone in his possession.
Following the arrest, charges were filed at the Sangvi Police Station under sections 8 (c), 21 (c), and 22 (c) of the NDPS Act.
The suspect was subsequently presented in court on Friday, where the district magistrate court in Pune granted a seven-day police custody.
