At least 12 individuals were hospitalized in Mumbai’s Goregaon after consuming chicken shawarma, according to a civic official on Sunday. The incident took place at Satellite Tower in the Santosh Nagar area of Goregaon (East) on Friday. While nine of the 12 people have been discharged from the hospital, three others are still undergoing treatment. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official did not provide details on whether the affected individuals consumed the food at a hotel or shop.
In another incident, 76 students from a private hostel in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, suffered from food poisoning and were hospitalized. The students had dinner prepared for those observing Mahashivratri fast in the hostel. Following the dinner on Friday, many students complained of uneasiness, dizziness, and vomiting. The students, enrolled at different colleges, were staying at Aryan Residency in the Knowledge Park area.
Additionally, over 50 students from a coaching center in Pune’s Khed tehsil were hospitalized due to suspected food poisoning. The coaching center, which provides boarding facilities to over 500 students preparing for exams like JEE and NEET, saw the condition of the students stabilize after primary check-ups and treatment.
