Indore: A man and his young daughter were rescued from a perilous situation when their car veered off the edge and plunged into a waterfall pool in Simrol, Madhya Pradesh. The incident, which occurred around 60 kilometers from Indore city, was captured in a viral video on social media.
The video depicted a red car sliding on the rocky edge before submerging into the water. Swiftly after the car entered the pool, a nearby individual sprang into action, swimming towards the sinking vehicle, from which the daughter could be heard screaming for help.
Sunil Mathew (26), an employee at a private firm, recounted, “Witnessing the car falling into the waterfall, I saw the father and his 13-year-old daughter struggling to exit the vehicle as it slid. Unfortunately, the car descended into the pool with them still inside.” Mathew courageously jumped in and rescued the man, while others nearby saved the daughter.
Reflecting on the incident, Mathew admitted to being initially shocked but gathered the strength to intervene, ultimately saving both the father and daughter. Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sunil Mehta attributed the mishap to driver negligence, explaining that the car had been parked too close to the waterfall’s pool. Reports indicated that the car began moving after its trunk was forcefully shut, leading to its unfortunate plunge.
Eyewitnesses shared that the area was crowded with picnickers due to the monsoon season and the weekend, making the incident even more eventful.
