Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala state police received a threat call on Wednesday night targeting Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The threat, made via a phone call to the police headquarters control room, was confirmed to be from a 12-year-old boy, according to police reports on Thursday.
The young caller, a 7th-grade student from Kochi, reportedly verbally abused the Chief Minister and issued death threats during the call. The police are taking the matter seriously and exploring all possible angles. The child, who made the threatening call, will undergo counseling as part of the response.
A case has been registered at the Museum police station under sections 118(b) and 120(o) of the Kerala Police Act against the phone number used to make the threat. Section 118(b) pertains to intentionally spreading rumors or giving false alarms to mislead essential services, while section 120(o) deals with causing a nuisance to any person through repeated, undesirable, or anonymous communication.
Law enforcement authorities are actively investigating the case to determine the motivation behind the child’s alarming threat against a state authority figure.
