New Delhi: Responding to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s explanation that the BJP lost the Delhi election because of some controversial statements made by a few leaders, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh said that he doesn’t believe that the controversial remarks were made without Shah’s approval.

Speaking to ANI, Singh said, “He uses such aggressive language himself. I don’t believe Arvind Kejriwal was called a terrorist and ‘Ravan’ without his (Shah) knowledge.”

It can be recalled that on Thursday, the Union Home Minister accepted defeat in the Delhi Assembly polls adding that the controversial statements might have contributed to their failure.

On the BJP’s campaign trail, prior to the elections, slogans such as “desh ke gaddaron ko”, “goli maaro s****n ko” etc were heard, apart from veiled threats to the Shaheen Bagh protesters.

As a result, the Election Commission even barred three BJP leaders, including West Delhi MP Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, from campaigning.

“Can they guarantee that they will never use such language in the future? Will they continue to use such language in other state elections? They are accustomed to using such politics,” Sanjay Singh added.

The AAP won 62 of the 70 seats in the recently concluded Delhi Assembly elections. The BJP managed to win 8 seats, while the Congress and others did not win any.
