Jammu: In a shocking incident, a cricket club in Kashmir wore the jersey of India’s arch-rivals Pakistan and  sang the Pakistani national anthem.
The incident took place on April 2 at the Wayil playfield in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district coinciding with PM Modi’s visit to the state for the inauguration of Nashri tunnel.

The players from the Baba Darya Ud Din team, which is named after a saint whose shrine is situated in Ganderbal, wore the Pakistani jersey and sang the Pakistani national anthem.

The commentator announced ahead of the match that the Pakistani national anthem would be played as a “mark of respect.”  “We wanted our team to look different and also wanted to show fellow Kashmiris that we haven’t forgotten Kashmir issue. So we found this particular theme as the most appropriate and catchy,” the players said according to sources.

The video clip has gone viral on social media.
