Gurugram: The wife and son of an additional sessions judge, were shot at by a 38-year-old head constable on Saturday, October 13 at around 3.30 PM. The incident occurred when the judge’s wife and son were out shopping in the Arcadia market. The shooter was identified as Mahipal, a security guard who has been in charge of protecting the judge and his family for the last two years. Footage of the incident has emerged and the visuals are shocking, to say the least.

In the video, it can be seen that, after shooting judge Krishan Kant’s wife and son, the perpetrator dragged the injured boy in a heartless manner. Eyewitnesses also said that Mahipal, after shooting the judge’s wife, kicked her numerous times and hurled abuses at her. The son was shot twice when he tried to save his mother from her attacker.

Reportedly, Mahipal is said to have also shot at the police who arrived at the scene but missed. Police have said that the shooter may be mentally unstable as he kept repeating a particular statement during the interrogation, which they found “hard to believe”. The police are considering getting a medical examination done on Mahipal as he seemed depressed and showed signs of “some psychological issues”.

According to the police, Mahipal admitted that he was disturbed as he found running errands for the family to be unpleasant. He also said that he felt like he was ‘possessed’ when the incident occurred.

The police learnt that the guard had been asking for leave to go home for the past few days, but his requests were denied. He was also often scolded by the judge. This, the police believe, might have led to his depression.

A case was registered against Mahipal at Sector 50 police station after the shooting.
