Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested JKLF (Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front) chief and one of the separatist movement’s major leaders Yasin Malik, here on Friday, February 22 night.

According to one of the Indian news agencies, he was taken into custody at his residence in Maisuma.

Later he was taken to the Kothibagh Police Station.

Very interestingly, this development comes ahead of the Supreme Court hearing on Article 35-A on February 25, which provides special rights and privileges to the people of J&K.

Amid this, the military and para-military forces have been kept on high alert, though there is no further confirmation on any more detentions.
