Jammu and Kashmir: In a tragic incident, terrorists targeted and fatally shot retired Senior Superintendent of Police Mohammed Shafi Mir while he was praying at a mosque in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir. Mir, a resident of Gantamulla Bala village in Baramulla, fell victim to the assailants during the Azan at the mosque.
The official Twitter account of the Kashmir Zone Police posted an update, stating, “Terrorists fired upon Shri Mohd Shafi, a retired police officer at Gantmulla, Sheeri #Baramulla, while praying Azan in the mosque and succumbed to injuries. The area has been #cordoned off. Further details awaited.”
This tragic incident occurred a day after the Indian army successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt in the Akhnoor sector of the Jammu region. Four terrorists had sought to breach Indian territory near the International border in the Akhnoor area. The Indian army reported observing the terrorists dragging a body across to the opposite side of the fence during the operation.
