As the pursuit of the individuals responsible for the recent attack on an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district continued into its third day on Monday, security forces took a significant step by publicly releasing sketches of two suspected terrorists linked to the incident. Alongside this release, a reward totaling Rs. 20 lakhs were announced for any information leading to their apprehension. Reassuring the public, authorities emphasized that the identity of those providing tips regarding the whereabouts of these individuals would remain confidential.

This development coincides with an ongoing joint operation between the army and police across various locations, including Shahsitar, Gursai, Sanai, and Sheendara Top, aimed at locating and neutralizing the suspects, believed to have sought refuge in a forest following the attack. In parallel, amidst intensive search efforts, security forces have detained approximately 20 individuals suspected of aiding the attackers.

Notably, the attack in the Poonch district resulted in five personnel sustaining gunshot wounds during an exchange of fire with the assailants near Shahsitar on May 4, as the forces were en route to Sanai Top in the Surankote area. The terrorists reportedly fired close to 30 rounds during the confrontation. While all injured personnel were promptly evacuated to the nearest military hospital for urgent medical attention, Corporal Vikky Pahade, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries later.

Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Corporal Vikky Pahade were transported to Chhindwara for his final rites today. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav was also present for the somber occasion, expressing condolences and stating, “Corporal Vikky Pahade will receive a Guard of Honour and State honors, but the personal loss is irreplaceable. We take immense pride in Vikky Pahade.”
