Chennai: A high-resolution image of the suspect in the murder of Infosys employee Swathi was released by the Chennai police on Thursday.

The probe, originally done by the Railway Police, was shifted to the city police who have now formed eight special teams to crack the murder after Madras High Court’s intervention.
The police had reportedly taken the help of a Hyderabad-based digital forensic firm to procure high-resolution pictures of the murder accused. The photo shows a man wearing blue shirt and black pants, similar to what was seen in the CCTV footage released by the police on Sunday. The police, on Wednesday had discovered that the accused was following Swathi from the month of May.
This is considered as a major breakthrough, as the police were finding difficulty in even identifying the accused, as the quality of the CCTV footage was very poor. With the suspect’s picture made public, the police will seek help from the public in tracking the accused.
It may be recalled, Swathi was allegedly killed by an unidentified man on a platform while she was waiting to board a train on her way to office around 6:30 am on June 24.
