New Delhi: The first look of the Indian cricket team’s “away” jersey is out. Some of the team members proudly donned the orange and dark blue jerseys and posed for a photo shoot ahead of the India vs England World Cup 2019 clash on Sunday.

The team will, for the first time, not be sporting their normal contemporary blue kit so as not to clash with England’s sky blue colour on their home turf.

“The away kit is designed to enhance dynamic movements and modern requirement of the sport and the athletes. While the new engineered mesh and strategically placed sweat zones help enhanced breathability for the team on the field, new placket construction, the flex crest, garment cut angles and slash taping all add to making the new jersey lighter, more breathable and helps the athletes be agile on the field,” Nike India, the official apparel sponsor of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), stated in a press release.

While the jerseys have been received well, the Twitterati have found a way to poke some fun at the team’s new look.

“Petrol” is one of the top trending words on Twitter right now. Why? Because apparently, the team’s blue and orange jerseys seem to resemble Indian Oil’s employees’ uniforms.

Here are some reactions to the Indian team’s new away jerseys:

Some others had nicer things to say about the new jerseys:

India is currently placed second on the points table and is only a win away from securing a spot in the semi-finals.
