Aurad: Law enforcement authorities have confiscated an illegal shipment of 25.44 quintals of Goa-100 gutkha (betel quid) valued at Rs 36 lakh near the Vanamarapalli checkpoint in the taluk.
During a routine inspection on Wednesday, an Ashok Leyland lorry traveling from the Humanabad area of the district to Maharashtra was examined, leading to the discovery of a bag containing gutkha.
The police seized both the gutkha and the truck, and a case has been filed at the local police station.
