New Delhi: Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade, who was arrested in New York last week over alleged visa fraud and exploiting her housekeeper and babysitter, was reportedly handcuffed, strip-searched in custody and made to stand with common criminals, drug addicts and sex workers by the New York Police.
The US is however arguing that it had merely followed standard procedures.
Meanwhile, displaying displeasure over the way an Indian diplomat was treated by the New York Police, the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday December 17, refused to meet a visiting US congressional delegation.
