Chennai :  Yuvan Shanker Raja, son of renowned music director Ilayaraja has embraced Islam. In a statement,  he has said his decision has been fully backed by his family and that he had embraced Islam at his own accord.

Sources close to Yuvan Shanker  attribute his decision to the several bitter incidents  in his life and his failures. It has been gathered that  Ilayaraja who was initially opposed to his son’s decision, has later approved his action.

Yuvan Shanker who is also a music director by profession, has so far provided music to around 100 films.
