There was continuous rain in Mumbai and this caused traffic jams at at Tardeo, Haji Ali, Peddar Road, Hughes Road, Lower Parel, Dadar and Kurla. Water-logging at Parel led to snarls on Ambedkar Road below the flyovers. Slow-moving traffic was also reported on JJ Flyover, Sion, Jogeshwari, Western Express Highway, Eastern Express Highway, Andheri and LBS Marg. Snarls due to water-logging were also reported in Worli, Bandra and Matunga.
“Traffic movement was a little better during the morning peak hours compared to the evening, as the rain wasn’t as heavy in the morning. Later, water began accumulating on the roads which hit traffic badly after 5pm,” said a traffic police official. Additional police personnel had to be deployed to guide motorists.
Suburban services were affected on Central Railway’s Main and Harbour lines due to a power outage in the morning and water-logging in the evening. However, there were no cancellations because of the incident.” There were delays but no cancellations.
