India is experiencing a heatwave today. The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast heatwave conditions in several states through April 5. Additionally, through April 7, the meteorological department has predicted an increase in precipitation and thunderstorm activity over Northeast India.
Heatwaves are expected over isolated areas of Rayalaseema, Gangetic West Bengal, and East Madhya Pradesh from April 3–5. This information comes from the weather department.
It also predicted heatwave conditions at isolated pockets of Jharkhand and Vidarbha on 4th and 5th April.
-In addition to this, heatwave conditions have also been predicted at isolated pockets of North Interior Karnataka during 1st-5th April, and isolated pockets of Telangana on 1st and 2nd April.
The weather office also predicted that warm night conditions are very likely over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada on the 1st and 2nd of April and over Odisha during the 2nd-5th of April.
It also stated that hot and humid weather will prevail over Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal during 1st- 5th April; and over Odisha during 2nd- 5th April.
IMD rainfall, snowfall, hailstorm predictions
-The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted seven days of scattered light to moderate rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, along with sporadic thunderstorms and lightning from April 1–3, and a chance of hailstorms on April 1, 2024.
-Arunachal Pradesh is expected to experience heavy rainfall or snowfall from April 1–5, while Assam and Meghalaya are expected to experience heavy rainfall from April 1–2.
-IMD stated that an isolated hailstorm is likely to occur on April 1st over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
