New Delhi: Fresh clashes were reported in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday and police fired teargas shells to disperse crowds.
According to media reports, firing was reported from Hadyal area of Kishtwar.
Reports of fresh clashes comes two days after nearly 60 people were injured after members of two communities clashed on Eid in Kishtwar town in Jammu on Friday. Over a dozen vehicles and nearly a hundred structures, including residential structures, were set on fire.
The Army was called out and the town was put under curfew. Till late evening, however, residents were reporting that groups of people continued to gather in streets in their areas, with not many police or Army personnel visible.
Both sides pelted each other and the police with stones. In the evening, a doctor reportedly fired from inside his house near Amar Market, injuring over a half dozen people. According to people who said they were on the scene, the gunfire came after a mob tried to set the house on fire.
