Four killed in fresh clashes in Kashmir

Srinagar: Four persons were killed and 15 others injured on Tuesday when a mob clashed with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district, police said. The deaths in the violence have now risen to 64.
Protestors clashed with security forces at a village in Magam area of Budgam district today. Police say they opened fire to disperse crowds as they threw stones at a vehicle of the Central Reserve Police Force or CRPF. Four people were killed in the clashes that followed.

Security forces opened fire to bring the situation under control at Aripanthan village which resulted in the death of one person on the spot, said a senior police officer.

The three other victims succumbed to their injuries in the hospital, the officer added.

Nearly 64 people until now and left at least 5,000 injured, many of them security personnel. Curfew in Kashmir has extended over an unprecedented five weeks.
A high-level meeting in Delhi – being attended by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and the Director of Intelligence Bureau – will review the situation in the wake of the fresh violence.
