New Delhi: AICC national spokesperson and Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala’s father, Shamsher Singh Surjewala (87) passed away on Monday, January 20.

Shamsher, who was himself a leader in the Congress party, had been admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) as he was suffering from a prolonged illness, to which he succumbed today.

Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal and other leaders condoled his death.

It can be recalled that Shamsher was the president of the Haryana Congress, a five-time legislator and a one-time Rajya Sabha MP.
