Former MP, Assam BJP president Indramoni Bora passes away at 81

Guwahati: Former Rajya Sabha MP and Assam BJP president Indramoni Bora breathed his last on Saturday, December 28.

He has died at the age of 81 at his residence in Uzan Bazar area.

Taking to Twitter, Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal wrote, “Saddened to learn about the death of former @BJP4Assam president & RS MP Indramoni Bora. His demise is great loss for @BJP4India family. His role in strengthening the party under stalwarts Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji & Lal Krishna Advani ji is invaluable. My heartfelt condolences.”

In another tweet he wrote, “Offered my last respects to the mortal remains of Indramoni Bora in Guwahati whose demise has left a huge void in our amidst. Prayed for peace of the departed soul with colleagues and @BJP4Assam family members.”

It can be recalled that Bora retired from active politics in the year 2007, but had continued to work for the party.

He was the man behind strengthening BJP in the northeastern state between 1991 and 2007.

Bora had also worked with BJP stalwarts like late former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and veteran party leader L K Advani.
