
Vishakapatnam: A sitting MLA and a former legislator lost their lives in a Maoist attack on September 23, Sunday.
Araku Constituency MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and former MLA Siveri Soma were gunned down by 50 Maoists after waylaying their car that was travelling towards Araku valley Dumbriguda region.
After firing, the Maoists fled, while the two breathed their last on the spot.
Sarveswara Rao had contested from the YSRP Congress, who had won against the TDP’s Siveri Soma. Rao had later joined the TDP. It is found that Rao was in the hitlist of the Maoists.
The police officials along with Anti-Naxal squad had rushed to the spot.
