First Indian twins on Mount Everest

Kathmandu:Two Indian sisters have made  history by being the first twin sisters to summit mount everest. Tashi and Nancy Malik daughters of  a army officer  from Dehra Dun achieved this feat by successfully reaching the worlds highest mountain peak at 8,848 meters at 7.30 am on May 20 2013, an official at Nepals Ministry of Tourism and Culture said.

The duo were among other record-makers including the first women from Saudi Arabia and Pakistan who climbed the Everest yesterday.During a so-called fair weather window yesterday, 146 people reached the summit of the worlds highest peak with 94 more completing the journey today.

This brings to 348 the total number of climbers who have ascended the mountain since May 10, said Tilak Pandey of the Mountain Division at the Ministry.Last year, more than 250 climbers reached the summit in a 48hour stretch of good weather despite warnings of potentially deadly bottlenecks in the death zone above 8,000 metres.

They called  colonel virender malik to announce their feat.The successful attempt was preceded by months of hard training.
