New Delhi: Delhi Police lodged FIRs against nine persons including JNU students’ union leader Aishe Ghosh for allegedly vandalising the university server room, on January 4.

Aishe was one of the several persons injured in a brutal rampage inside the campus by masked individuals who carried iron rods and other weapons and went on an assault spree on Sunday evening. As many as 34 including Aishe were severely injured.

However, this FIR stands in connection to the incident when the students reacted to the hostel fee hike earlier. The JNU administration alleged that the students ransacked the server room and “intimidated” technical staff.

The FIRs were registered on January 3 (Friday) and January 4 (Saturday). Aishe’s name has been mentioned in Friday’s FIR.

However, the JNSU has refuted the allegations made by the administration and instead said that the University administration deployed masked security guards to destroy the server room.

The university has also claimed that Sunday’s violence was linked to the attack on the servers.
