New Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) said it has sought a “factual” report on allegations that Rahul Gandhi, a candidate from Amethi, had violated rules by going to the polling area inside some booths in the constituency during balloting yesterday.

Addressing the media, the Election Commission asserted that it has sought a report on the photographs in the media showing Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi entering a polling booth in Amethi during polling hours.

“We have asked for the video as well as the report of the Returning Officer. Once we get them, we would decide on what action to take,” Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath told presspersons here.

Sampath said that the commission took all allegations and grievances of candidates and political parties seriously. It took a view on them after taking inputs from all concerned.
