New Delhi: Union Minister for state Anurag Thakur has received a notice from the Election Commission for his statements against those protesting against the amended Citizenship Act. The Commission has served Thakur a notice, seeking his response in connection with the incident, by Thursday noon.
It can be recalled that Thakur, during an election campaign for the BJP candidate in Rithala in North West Delhi for the February 8 Delhi election, allegedly egged the crowds by chanting, “Desh ke gaddaron ko….” to which the crowd responds, “…goli maaro sa***n ko.”
Earlier in the day, the Election Commission of India had sought a report on the incident, soon after which the Chief Election Officer of Delhi submitted the same. The report also mentions one of the BJP’s star campaigners, Parvesh Sahib Verma.
The report refers to Verma’s comments on the Shaheen Bagh protesters and his tweet on religious places
