During Vajpayee, Dr. MMS regimes 6 surgical strikes were done: Rajiv Shukla

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Rajiv Shukla revealed here on Thursday, May 2, that during the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) regime, there were six surgical strikes.

In a press conference, Shukla not only said that there were six surgical strikes but has also went ahead and revealed their dates.

He said that the first strike was on June 19, 2008 in Bhattal Sector of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir, second on August 30 and September 1 in Sharda Sector in Kel across the River Neelam valley, third on January 6, 2013 at Sawan Patra Checkpost, fourth on July 27 and 28, 2013 at Nazpir Sector, fifth on August 6, 2013 at Neelam valley and sixth on January 14, 2014.

Shukla not only revealed the dates of the surgical strikes during the UPA regime but also went on to say that it was also done during the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) regime from 1999-2004. He said that during Vajpayee’s tenure, the strikes were conducted on January 21, 2000 at Nadala Enclave across the River Neelam and another on September 18, 2003 at Baroh Sector in Poonch.

Shukla said that Vajpayee and Dr. Manmohan Singh, who was the prime minister from 2004 to 2014 had never boasted about conducting surgical strikes unlike the current Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was projecting one operation as his own.
