Dr Manmohan Singh unveiled the plaque of T2 at Mumbai airport

Mumbai: The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh unveiled the plaque to inaugurate the New Integrated Terminal (T2), at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, in Mumbai on January 10.

The spanking four-storey glass marvel, whose design has been inspired by a dancing peacock, will provide fliers a whole new experience with its features along with the sprawling premises boasts of tens of thousands of artifacts and paintings, housing arguably one the largest collections in the world at an airport.

The most attractive feature of the swanky terminal is the museum of artifacts. Titled ‘Jaya He’, it offers a glimpse into India’s rich legacy. Stretching along a 3-km art wall, the museum houses over 7,000 artifacts collected from over 1,500 artists across the country.

The Governor of Maharashtra, K Sankaranarayanan, the Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Ajit Singh, the Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Praful Patel, the Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and the Minister of State for Civil Aviation, KC Venugopal were also present during the inauguration.
