In a deeply disturbing display of cruelty, a man has been captured on CCTV repeatedly striking a pet dog. The distressing footage, which has now gone viral on social media, shows the man hitting the dog with a folding litter scoop and slapping its head inside a lift at Orchid Gardens in Sector 54, Gurugram. Despite the relentless abuse, the dog does not retaliate.
The incident, which occurred on May 9 according to the CCTV timestamp, was shared on social media on May 11, sparking widespread outrage. Social media users have called for stricter laws against animal cruelty in India, expressing their disgust and anger at the perpetrator’s actions.
Some users even suggested retribution, advocating for the perpetrator to experience the same treatment he inflicted on the innocent animal. Others emphasized the responsibility of pet ownership, stating that if one cannot commit to caring for an animal, they should not have one.
Concerns have also been raised about the safety of hiring dog walkers, with many expressing reluctances to trust their pets with anyone else. Despite calls for action against the dog walker, it remains unclear whether any measures have been taken by the authorities.
This disturbing incident is not an isolated case. Just last month, a similar incident occurred in Mumbai, where a woman was filmed abusing a beagle dog. The video, which circulated widely, showed the woman mercilessly hitting the dog with its leash. Following public outcry, the dog was rescued and placed in a care center until its owner’s return.
These incidents highlight the urgent need for stricter enforcement of animal welfare laws and greater accountability for those who commit acts of cruelty against innocent animals.
