
New Delhi: As the Congress high command is reportedly delaying the appointment of a new Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, party leader and one of the aspirants of the post, D K Shivakumar met former AICC president and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi on Monday, January 27.
According to party sources, DKShi is expected to be the ‘popular choice’ among the other Congress leaders namely, M B Patil and Krishna Byre Gowda, who have been fielded by the former chief minister and Karnataka Assembly Opposition leader Siddaramaiah.
Last week, a group of senior leaders led by former chief minister Veerappa Moily had thrown their support behind senior party leader Mallikarjun Kharge as KPCC chief.
Earlier, reports also claimed that Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who is very close to AICC interim-president Sonia Gandhi, had called DKShi and confirmed that the party high command had finalized his name and that he had received the information from the high command.
